EVENTS HELD AT GEMS AKADEMIA

March 2012:Sports Week

The Sport’s Week was organized in GEMS Akademia International School from 19th to 23rd of March, 2012. The week’s highlights included a friendly match between GAIS and South Point School. A football match was also played between CINI and GAIS where GAIS won by 3 goals.The students were taught the basic of karate techniques by a karate team led by Mr. Shivaji Ganguly. A football session was also held where a professional football player and a coach shared his experiences and had a small Interactive Session with the children. On 22nd March a team from adventure activity camp “SNOUT” visited our school and demonstrated – net climbing, ladder climbing and displayed tents and other gears used for these activities. The week culminated with the visit from the famous chess personalities -Mr. Dibyendu Barua, Mr. Atanu Lahiri and Mr. Shantanu Lahiri , they conducted an Interactive Session with the children and showed them some popular chess moves. The children participated and performed in all the events with energy and enthusiasm.

Fun Week:12th to 16th

Fun week was celebrated from 12th to 16th March’12 at GEMS Akademia giving an opportunity to students to unwind and indulge in games and activities after an exhaustive week of assessment. At the very onset of Fun week, on 12th March’12 Montessori schools of Behala- New Alipore area were invited to join in, in this fun celebration. The Montessori Children of GEMS Akademia and other schools enjoyed the Rhyme-Quiz and the Go-As-You like competition that was arranged them.

A plethora of activities was arranged from 13th to 16th March’12 for students from grade 1 to grade 7, which helped the young minds to explore their potential and develop into well rounded individuals. Music, dance, arts and crafts activities were all part of Fun Week re-enforcing the school’s belief in holistic education.

On 16th March’12 to conclude the Fun Week with a memorable note a tour to Heritage places in and around Kolkata was arranged for the children followed by a night stay in school. The students were overjoyed to view all that they have learnt in History. The night stay in school had been organized with the view to teach children a practical way of life, away from home.
