Guruvar Teacher AwardsThe Varkey GEMS Foundation initiated the Guruvar teachers awards in India to recognize the critical role that teachers play in the community. They are the biggest and most valuable teacher awards in the world.
The Foundation believes that a healthy and sound education system is one of the pillars for any developing nation. A proper education can lift people out of poverty; it can educate us on the importance of cultural and religious tolerance and help us tackle other global challenges like, climate change.
Teachers create the leaders of tomorrow in all facets of society. For these reasons the Foundation believes that teaching is the noblest of professions. We need to continue to acknowledge our teachers and promote teaching as a preferred profession amongst the youth in India.
