The Library and Discovery Centre

It contains an extensive range of books, materials and resources, including reading corners, study areas and PC workstations that enable students to access information from the library and World Wide Web databases.

All children attend the library to select books, learn library skills and etiquette, browse or read, thereby inculcating in them a healthy habit of reading and book appreciation.

Sports Hall

The new JPS multi-purpose sports hall has allowed the school to further extend and improve its Physical Education and School Sport provision. We are now able to offer activities such as Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball and Handball. The hall is also used for generic games lessons in the lower years and by external partners in the evenings.

Gymnasium

A large, temperature controlled Gymnasium allows for year round PE programme at JPS. The Gymnasium also features an extensive collection of professional gymnastics equipment including trampoline, vaulting apparatus, beams and mats.

Swimming Pool

The partly shaded 25-metre swimming pool and infant learning pool are heated in the cooler months allowing curriculum swimming lessons, Swimming Development Program and Swim Squads to continue all year round. Changing rooms and showers are also available.

FS2 Freeflow Areas

The children in Foundation Stage follow a Freeflow approach to learning as part of the curriculum. This involves the children, in turn, having access to indoor and outdoor play. During Freeflow all staff will be involved in monitoring and assessing children’s progress. They will be making observations, taking photographs and using examples of work to provide evidence of the learning that is taking place.

Indoor Area: The indoor areas are always set up with quality, stimulating, age appropriate resources. Children are free to choose from these areas throughout the day. This ‘free flow’ play allows children to make their own choices and follow their own interests, which is more beneficial to children’s learning than them simply being instructed what to do.

Outdoor Area: The outdoor environment will be a mirror image of the indoors, whilst also offering opportunities for doing things in different ways and on different scales. Children have the freedom to explore, use their senses, and be physically active. Being outdoors has a positive impact on children’s sense of well being and supports development in all areas of learning.

FS2 Computer Suite

The FS computer suite has been designed to provide an extension to the shared FS area. We have 12 laptops available for the children to access during Freeflow and each FS2 class also has a set time slot during the week. The computers are used to develop the children’s basic computer skills. They help with mouse control, coordination and are also used to develop typing skills.

The children in FS will develop their knowledge of technology around them, be able to access simple programes and use the internet as a tool for finding information.

ICT Academy

This brand new, state of the art facility is available to all GEMS parents, pupils and staff. The Academy is equipped with the latest computer hardware, software and interactive whiteboard to provide the ideal learning environment. The GEMS ICT Academy offers a wide range of ICT courses and workshops for all levels of ability from beginners through to fast track certification for those looking to validate existing skills.

Medical Care

The school has a well equipped four bedded clinic manned by full time qualified school nurses. Close contact is kept with the ACE and Well Being Departments to make sure that children are cared for in a holistic manner.

All cases of injury or illness that occur during school hours receive medical attention. Should further specialized treatment be necessary, parents, or in the case of an emergency an ambulance will be called.

All students receive regular medical examinations and we work in close contact with the Department of School Health, Department of Health and Medical Services and the Dubai Municipality.

Mosque

The mosque conveniently located on campus enhances our preservation of traditional values.

Garden

Our garden gives the school a pleasant atmosphere and quiet place for students during break times. Gardening club students help to maintain the garden while learning about the process of food production.

School Transport

Buses are available for transporting students to and from school, within Dubai. Further information about this service can be found here.

Drinking Water

Drinking fountains are located in various locations throughout the school, ensuring that children have easy access to cool and clean water throughout the day.

Recycling Centre

The JPS community is helping to create a greener milieu today by offering recycling facilities to all students, parents and staff. We recycle paper, plastic, aluminum cans, glass, batteries and now used clothing and paired shoes.

The Recycling Centre is located near the JPS bus fleet area.
