Millennium On A Winning Note At The Creative Fest - 2010

Schooling is not always about academics but also extra-curricular activities where students get a fair opportunity to showcase their creative talents. This year the creative fest, hosted by the Dubai Modern High School on 4th November 2010 saw our students put in their best to win top honours in varied events.
Competitions began immediately after the inaugural ceremony. There were different events like The Mad Ads, Creativity in Science, Electronics and Robotics, Quizzing, Street plays, Choral Recitation, Declamation, Rangoli Designing, Music and Dance. The students of The Millennium School fared well in most of the events. We began our quest on a very good note. The first event was the Mad Ads in which we bagged the Winner’s Trophy. The team coordinated by Mr. Donald Weilson, consisted of six members- Naman Rathi, Fayiz Basheer, Krishna Sadasivan, Arnav Borah, Prem Panicker and Adrian Pereira. The advertisement was based on a laxative product ‘In and Out’ which was endorsed in a very humorous fashion showcasing characters like the famous joker and the effective use of additional props. The other events in which we stood first were ‘Design a Bag Competition , The Rangoli Competition and the Hindi Declamation’.
Giving credit only to the winners would not be fair because every participant had put in a lot of effort. The street play was another event which was truly amazing. The team coordinated by Mr. Sanjeev Kumar, consisted of- Susan Mathew, Ameena Syraj, Abigail Khiyalie, Tanishq Joy, Shejar Kaul, Katyani Chawla, Gunjan and Ria. Though the team came third, they surely do deserve credit for their wonderful effort.

Creativity in science, which consisted of a team of three boys- Amal J. P. , Shaurya Gupta and Mohd. Faisal Anees, designed a Robotic Model on the spot and bagged the Runner’s Up Trophy. It was truly a test of their expertise and strategic planning. We also came second in film making where Krishna Bala Shenoi, Daniel K. Oommen and the others came to the forefront with their exceptional IT skills . Our melodious singers did us proud once again by coming second in their singing event. The team coordinated by Mr. Mervin and Mrs. Jennifer, included Leon Aaron Lewis, Alston Rodrigues , Ankur Vincent Peter, Serin Annie Mathew and Lyra Vaz. Not to forget the choral recitation group which also bagged the Runner’s Up Trophy.

Siddharth Havaldar, Shankar Krishna, Aniruddh Menon and a few others put in a fairly good effort in the Math and Science Quiz which is surely worth a mention.

Our Fashion Designing team came up with an outstanding performance and won the Runner’s Up Trophy. The Creative Fest has taught us to gel together and work as a team. Above all, we enjoyed this experience and eagerly await such competitions in future, where we can prove that we are not to be taken lightly as Creativity and Intellect is our Forte’. I wish to thank our Principal, Mr. Michael Guzder for the wonderful opportunity provided and our dear teachers for their consistent effort and guidance in transforming us into potential winners all the way!
