WORLD ROBOT OLYMPIAD On 4th May 2011 World Robot Olympiad was organized by Abu Dhabi Education Council at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. WRO Arabia is the inaugural regional event in the World Robotic Olympiad in the Middle East and was attended by participants from six countries. The WRO was held across three categories- Regular category, Open category and WRO GEN 11 category. The theme for WRO 2011 was ‘Robots for Life Improvement’ which aimed at exploring how robots could be used to improve life.
The Millennium School participated in the Open category-Elementary level, attended by twenty schools. Soham Apte of Grade 6C and Arjun Bhorkar of Grade 5C under the guidance of senior Computer teacher Mr. Sony Jose won the first prize for programming a robot titled “Pets R Home Alone”. The Millennium School team has scored the highest point (195/200) in the Open category competition, which is the highest in the category among all age groups. Participants have awarded with Gold medals and a LEGO NXT kit by the officials. |
