The first UAE edition of the TCS IT WIZ quiz was held on the 30th of April 2011 at the Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, Indian High School. An astounding 225 teams participated in the competition including 6 teams from The Millennium School. TCS IT Wiz quiz was hosted by noted quizmaster Giri Balasubramaniam, popularly known as Pickbrain. The preliminary round was a pen and paper test of 20 challenging question based on IT in our daily life. We completed the paper and submitted our answer sheets quite eagerly waiting for the results. The suspense was unbearable.

We waited for 20 minutes as the correction of the answers sheets were taking place. After we waited for what seemed to be 20 minutes, the quizmaster made his way to the stage and had begun to announce the 6 finalists. We were quite nervous as he kept announcing names. Finally he announced a team from The Millennium School comprising of us. It was a moment of pure ecstasy, we couldn’t believe it.

We made our way to the stage and took our respective places. The first round was called “Twittering” which was based on IT happenings across the world, which was quite thought-provoking. The second round was called “@TCS” based on the TCS. The third round was known “Tagging” based on visual clues. The next round was called “Crop It” which consisted of visuals and demanded a lot of out of the box thinking. The final round was called “SWODS” abbreviated as ‘See what others don’t see’ which required a huge amount of thinking and interpreting.
It was a highly contested competition in which our team placed 5th overall. The short comings that we faced were that the other that other teams were highly trained and perhaps a bit of bad luck. We received prizes courtesy TATA Consultancy Services which included a laptop bag, laser pointer, portable speakers, Sony MP4 players, mugs, pen drives and certificates.
It was quite an exhilarating and learning experience , which we would surely treasure for the rest of our lives. We thank our teachers for providing us with an opportunity to exercise our knowledge and for their constant support.
