On Thursday, 12th April 2012 the boys from Grade 9 attended the ‘Dubai Peace Convention’.

We were greeted by a group of volunteers.There were fantastic displays and the volunteers enlightened us with amazing facts about Islam and how the modern world is depicted in the Quran.In the beginning the guide took us through a series of slides that were mainly about the significance of Islamic discoveries, inventions and ideas contributed by Islam. They also talked about the things we now call discoveries which were already written in the Holy QU’RAN and were already pre-determined, for example the tilt of the earth that is 23.5 degrees, which causes the four seasons. And according to the Quran what a natural calamity indicates.

The facts were all displayed in a very organized manner with a lot ofdisplays, working models, videos and artifacts. We learnt about the various Muslim scientists and the mindboggling and innovative invention and discoveries. We were also made aware of the various moral teaching of the Quran. It was a great learning experience for not only Islamic students but also for the students of other religions and cultures. Many students were clear about Islam and were conscious of what is the true and peaceful goal of an Islamic community.

Few students were interviewed to know their opinions of their visit. The program was well organized and very well executed by the volunteers, teachers and students. The Peace Convention was amazing and informative. It was really a great experience for all the students, which gave us an opportunity to experience the vast, diverse and beautiful culture of Islam.
