Message from the Acting Principal

As Acting Principal of Our Own English High School, Sharjah, it's a pleasure for me to welcome you to a place of great enthusiasm, energy and promise.

Founded on principles and values that are the basis of the GEMS Schools, we address the curriculum in a manner that is relevant and developmentally appropriate where learning skills, problem solving, communication and critical thinking are of paramount importance. We strive to focus our energies on guiding students to become well rounded academically by maintaining a close eye on their emotional, social and physical needs and are committed to partnering parents in raising the next generation of leaders.

The school offers a healthy array of extra-curricular programs in the arts and sports and encourages participation in a wide assortment of activities including Environmental, School Magazine, School Music Band, The School Parliament, amongst others.

Wherever it is advantageous and appropriate we take education outside of the classroom to involve students in experiential learning placing significant emphasis on developing leadership and communication skills in students, as well as self-reliance, compassion and cross-cultural understanding.

Not only are our teachers a dedicated and collaborative group who engage students in the learning process in an exemplary manner but our students are also very talented, respectful, fun to be with and individuals that we are proud to be associated with. Reinforced by the GEMS core values, our students develop leadership qualities with a global outlook churning them into responsible individuals of the world.
