DIAMUN 2012 

DIAMUN 2012, the 4th Annual Dubai International Academy Model United Nations Conference, was held between the 21st and 24th of March, 2012. Over 600 student participants, representing 50 schools across 15 countries of the globe participated in the same.

 

Students from Cambodia, Zimbabwe, Mali, India, Singapore, China, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Bahrain took part in DIAMUN 2012, the largest and most diverse conference till date.

 

The theme of the conference was Sustainability through Development, an extremely important aspect to growth and development around the world. Delegates had the opportunity to reflect upon some of the most pressing issues the world faces today such as climate change in order to contribute towards conceiving truly global and multi-faceted solutions.

 

As part of the conference, the student-delegates focused on regional as well as country related issues and shared experiences and learning on developmental ideas that meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

 

The   opening ceremony was held in the American University of Dubai, on the first day of the conference. It set the mood for the entire conference with dances representing the Four Elements of nature, enchanting piano pieces, mask mime, contemporary dance and singing. It was inspiring for the audience, since   the   conference   was   proof   of the collaboration amongst students. The reception thereafter provided the vibrant atmosphere where students could lobby and know more about who their allies are.

The closing ceremony had emotional speeches by the Secretary General, the Deputy Secretary   General   and the President of the General Assembly. As delegates we carried back with us the memories of an unforgettable, enriching learning experience at DIAMUN which will take us a long way in our journey of building our careers in the diverse fields that we choose.
