Annual Prize Day 2012
The Annual prize Day 2012 at Our Own English High School, Sharjah celebrated on 26th and 27th June was earmarked to acknowledge and accredit the success of its student.
It was a visual treat to see the way leading to the auditorium glowing with pictures, photographs, certificates and trophies depicting the talent extraordinaire of the students. The parents and the guest accorded congratulatory nods as they passed from one corridor to another, learning how the school has proved its superiority among others of its region through its excellent CBSE results.
Three of our students Nisha Mariam Johnson, Swathi Murali and Pallavi Mandar Bichu who topped the GEMS group were awarded Gold medals. Nisha and Swathi secured an overall 97.2% in the Science stream while Pallavi from the Commerce stream obtained 96.2%. All medals were sponsored by Sky Jewellery.
All the meritorious students who brought glory to the school with their outstanding performance were also appreciated and rewarded. The students flaunted their innate taste for music and dance. The Indian Ensemble which was just 45 days old treated the audience with the magical romance of Minakumari, Manna Dey and Kishore Kumar and took them to the popular “Why this Kolaveri”. The atmosphere reverberated with the lilting music of the western orchestra.
In keeping with the Our Own tradition of honouring its staff who have rendered meritorious years of selfless service, the teachers were presented with tokens of appreciation.
The guests of honour were Mr Dino Varkey, Senior Director GEMS; Mr William Wellesley, Chief Operating Officer GEMS; and Mr. David Wilson, Director, Asian Schools, GEMS.
The Principal Dr. Aninda Chatterji, FRSA says that he had dreams for the School and that his dreams came true as swift as the swiftest Dream Liner.
“Dreaming, after all, is a form of planning.”
