Joe Gent
Mathematics Teacher, Year 8 Tutor and Key Stage 3 Coordinator

Joseph GentHi! My name is Joe Gent and I teach Mathematics at GEMS Wellington Academy – Silicon Oasis as well as being a Year 8 Form Tutor.

I come from Nuthall, a small town on the outskirts of Nottingham, UK. I studied in Nottingham and achieved a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Mathematics and Sport Science. I then went on to complete a Post Graduate Certificate of Education in Secondary Mathematics and haven’t looked back since. I was employed as a Mathematics teacher by my first training school and remained there for two further years. I was part of an extremely successful team that improved the Mathematics results of the pupils by 27%.

Teaching has become a huge part of my life and I love every aspect of my job. My teaching style is dynamic, exciting and interesting and I work hard to ensure each child reaches their full potential.

Outside of school I am both a keen sportsman and musician. I have represented my county at football but injury cut my dreams of a football career short, so now I am a keen golfer. I also played in pop cover bands in the UK and enjoyed every minute of it! I play the guitar, bass guitar and have dabbled with the piano.
I am thrilled to be part of the team at GEMS Wellington Academy!
