Abier Ali Mahmoud
Arabic & Islamic Studies Teacher

Abier Ali MahmoudMy name is Mrs. Abier Ali and I am an Egyptian national. I am a qualified Arabic and Islamic Studies Teacher. I have been teaching Arabic in international schools since 2004, following the American, English and Canadian curriculums in Egypt and United Arab Emirates and I still love it!

I have a great passion for my work and take great pride in my job. I have a strong passion to educate young minds and help them blossom into well-rounded, responsible and successful individuals. Throughout the course of my career I have had wonderful opportunities to teach really diverse groups of students.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique and that each child learns in a different ways. One of my jobs as a teacher is to help your child to discover his or her individuality and work alongside them to maximise it. I believe that education is the key to success for young students so, as a teacher, I hope to motivate students in ascertaining their inner strengths and abilities to discover what truly inspires them; I aim to provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions while fostering confidence in order for students to realise their full potential.

Through my teaching experience thus far I have found the method of facilitating rather than dictating to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. I have learned that if students construct their own learning experiences they will not only retain information longer, but will also become more confident in their abilities. Being devoted to this assertion confirms that I have made the right career choice for myself. I love working with children and will continue to strive to be a positive influence in their lives.

Ayat Fawzy
Arabic & Islamic Studies Teacher

Ayat FawzyI am Ayat Fawzy and I come from a family of teachers. My father, mother and all    sisters are teachers and I too, longed to be a teacher even from my childhood.

I am from Cairo in Egypt and have grown up with a special love for the Arabic language and the age old traditions of Egypt. In 2000, I obtained my Bachelor of Education degree in Arabic Language and joined The Kindergarten Starters, one of GEMS schools, as Arabic Teacher. I really enjoyed my 10 years there.   Teaching Arabic to non-Arabic speaking students has been challenging as well as greatly satisfying; the enthusiasm of little ones to learn a new language has also inspired me to work on many projects for improving the language skills.

I also have also had many opportunities to conduct workshops for improving Arabic at school level. My love for music, and arts and crafts has helped to create friendly classroom environments, and focus on developing ‘Universal values’ too in little minds.

Luai Ibrahim
Arabic & Islamic Studies Teacher

Hello! My name is Luai Ibrahim. I have been teaching Islamic and Arabic Language since 2002 in Dubai. I plan to finish my Master Degree in Islamic religion in 2012.

I grew up in a small town in Syria and from a young age I had a special interest in Arabic and Islamic studies. I taught part-time during my years of university which helped me gain a lot of experience before I graduated as a qualified teacher.

Personally, I believe in improvements and in order to be great teachers we should develop new and exciting methods of teaching to keep our students interested. I got very positive results when I organised and ran a radio competition program for students in Sharjah. I was also very proud when I was licensed and certified in memorising the Holy Quaran from a very well-known religion firm in Syria, since then I have voluntarily helped hundreds of people of all ages to recite the Quaran in a correct way. It is a great challenge to memorise and recite all 600 pages.

My four young children were born in Dubai and I have enjoyed living in the Emirate with my family since 2001.

Rana Shawish
Arabic & Islamic Studies Teacher

Rana ShawishMy name is Rana Shawish. I grew up in Jordan and have been an Arabic Language and Islamic Studies teacher since 1998 and since this time I have six years experience in an international school in Bahrain and more recently in Dubai. This international experience helped me understand the others culture, find the common ideas, and respect their beliefs and thoughts. I live in Dubai with my Husband, who is a chemistry teacher.

Languages are so important in our lives because through the language people can communicate with each other. So, as a teacher, I concentrate on the development of language skills, critical and creative thinking skills. This comes through applying different styles of teaching that give the students a big role in the learning process.

Activities are the main things that characterise the active and interactive learning which involves the student in subject activities such as Grammar club, toastmaster club, morning assembly activities, best student's portfolio, reading and summarising stories competitions. GEMS Willington Academy students participate in many competitions that increase their cognitive level and improve their skills too.
