Middle School

The Middle School enables children to develop their independence in a stimulating and enjoyable way whilst making it a productive experience for everyone, all within a very friendly and happy atmosphere.

• Academic excellence is provided in all areas of education including Sport and Music.
• The bilingual programme is continued throughout the Middle School allowing children to become fluent in another language and to understand other people and cultures.
• All subjects are taught by subject specialist teachers in the Middle School.
• Children in each Year Group have the advantage of the support of a designated tutor alongside specialist teachers.

All pupils are encouraged and supported in all areas and Gifted and Talented children are given many opportunities to excel.

For those who may encounter difficulties in learning we have excellent support staff who give specialist advice. Children are encouraged to attend drama, music and sports activities after school and during lunch break. All children attend swimming lessons on a Tuesday with specialist swimming teachers.

Children can arrive at school from 8.30am, children arriving before this time can attend breakfast with the boarders by prior arrangement. All children have morning break and lunch is served in the dining room with children sitting at tables in their age groups. They have a healthy varied menu which includes hot food, a salad bar and dessert. Special dietary requirements are well catered for.

Children in the Middle School also have the opportunity to go surfing, horse riding and, on an adventure day, climbing, abseiling, canoeing etc.

Children also participate in the school’s Additional Learning Programmes, which are taught throughout the school. These include diverse topics such as real world French and Culture and go-cart building. Children will have homework most evenings, which will vary depending on age.
