Pastoral Care

“Pupils thrive at GEMS Hampshire because the school successfully encourages each individual to develop personal skills and feel valued in a warm and friendly environment” Independent Schools Inspectorate

Our children are the focus for everything we do at GEMS Hampshire school, and pastoral care is tailored to meet the needs of each child.

The school has a warm and friendly atmosphere in which learning is fun. While we promote self-discipline, we also encourage the children to express themselves, and to build their confidence and self-esteem through work and play.

Our pastoral care programme is underpinned by the on-going development of relationships between the children and staff, and with their fellow pupils. Our system of prefects, monitors and buddies creates a sense of community and citizenship, and gives senior children chance to take on extra responsibility.

From their very first day, we inspire children to think about their responsibilities to other people and make sure integrity, kindness, and good manners are second nature.

Commitment to the welfare our pupils is, of course, our staff’s prime concern. We carefully monitor the progress of every child and make sure they are set appropriately challenging targets for learning.

We are proud too of the close co-operation between parents, children and teachers, which provides a happy, supportive and well-balanced environment conducive to learning. We keep parents informed about their child’s progress through regular reports, and informal as well as more structured meetings.
