School Trips

At Moor Allerton we believe a rich variety of extra-curriculuar activities and 'out of the classroom' learning adds fantastic educational opportunities and experiences for our children.

Children have a whole host of visits to extend knowledge and enrich their learning. Visits to art galleries, historical sites, and even a trip to post a letter can widen a child’s experience.

Visits have included a trip tp Bramhall Hall (see picture to the right) where children experienced life as Tudor masters and mistresses. They fully immersed themselves in the activities, manners and lifestyle of people at that time.

A whole school trip to the Panto at Christmas is a logistical nightmare but its worth it just to see the children's faces!

A variety of theatrical groups, authors, industrialists visit the school during each year to share their experiences and enthusiasm.

As the children move into the junior school they have the opportunity to go further afield during their residential trips.

Year 3 disappear off into Delamere Forrest for the night.  Whislt not exactly spending it under the trees they do get to stay in a lodge deep in the forrest away from any artifical lights and 'human' noise.  There are plenty of other noises to distract them during the night!  Usually a good sing song around a campfire keeps them entertained.

When in Year 4 children have a different experience outside in the beautiful Peak District, staying in the wonderful village of Edale.  Rock climbing and orienteering are just a couple of activities to try over the two nights they stay.

Year 5, literally push the boat out as they spend 3 nights at Plas Menai, National Sailing Centre for Wales. During their days on the sea they get to experience, windsurfing, canoeing, sailing etc.  One thing for certain they do get wet!

Finally the trip that many of the children can't wait to go on when they get to Year 6 is the week long visit to Bereatton Park in Shropshire.  Here they get up to all sorts of fun challenging themselves on the high wires and zip wires to name a few.  By the end of the week they are absolutely shattered, but if asked would they go again the following week the answer is a unanimous YES!

All the above trips are built into the curriculum and many many learning opportunities come from them.

One optional trip for children in Year 4 and above is the annual ski trip to France.  Being part of a group, GEMS, means we have local 'sister' schools who we can join with for a range of activities.  This trip provides one of the many opportunities we have for sharing with them. 

With two other schools we have groups of about 50 children taking to the air to fly to the French Alps.  For some this is a new, and sometimes challenging experience, travelling to a foreign country without their parents for 7 nights!  For others it is something they cannot wait for as it provides another opportunity to enhance their skiing skills as the zoom down the piste as well as some off piste excitement.

With all of the above we feel the opportunity to explore and participate in a range of activities builds confidence and ensures that children's learning can be fun and very memorable.
