Our Curriculum

The curriculum at GEMS Sherfield provides breadth, depth and balance. The Little GEMS, Pre-Reception and Reception Curriculum is based on the Early Years Foundation Curriculum (EYFS) combined with specially written programmes and approaches to learning based upon research and an understanding of early childhood development.

The National Curriculum provides a minimum framework in GEMS Plus and the Junior Departments. Specialist teaching in world languages, PE, Music and Art ensures that children experience depth as well as breadth in the curriculum.

The National Curriculum continues to be used as a framework in Year 7 to 9. Pupils in years 10 and 11 usually go on to study 10 GCSEs. Physical education and PCHE continues to be an important part of the curriculum.
