Global People: Global Education in Music – One Teacher’s Story

Maria Carter is a drama and music teacher at GEMS Metropole School

Global partnerships and innovation through music, will be the focus of Maria Carter’s presentation at the International Society of Music Education (ISME) South Asia Regional Conference in Bangalore, India 26 – 29 November 2017.

Maria Carter is a drama and music teacher at GEMS Metropole School. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music and English from the University of Canterbury in New Zealand and a Master of Music degree from Boston University, U.S.A. Maria will be speaking alongside other international music educators from University College, London and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, Bengaluru.

As a musician and actor, her performances have included the inaugural Emirates Airline Festival of Literature and ‘Desert Monologues’ at the DUCTAC theatre in Dubai. ISME is the leading global music education organisation and Maria will be speaking about the music and performing arts initiatives that are used to strengthen critical thinking and creativity at GEMS Metropole School.
