Approach to LearningAt Little GEMS International, children build an awareness of different cultures and countries at an early age, by studying foreign languages and learning side by side with peers from different backgrounds. Our program introduces children to a range of world languages such as Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and American Sign Language developed through literature and music.
Children learn the values that are common to and admired by all cultures, including healthy social attitudes, a spirit of humanity and ethical behavior. These are the values that guide children through life and they are the values we nurture at Little GEMS International. Through daily lessons and interactions, your child is given the tools to:
Our approach is a combination of direct teaching and the model of "plan, explore and review," where children are actively engaged in their learning. Positive behavior is encouraged through our golden rules: children are shown by example how to be gentle, kind and helpful, listen to people, look after property, share, work hard and be honest. We empower children to be independent, to reflect on their decisions, to demonstrate tenacity and to express themselves confidently. Whether it’s organizing a game out on the playground, helping a friend sound out a new word, or helping others put materials in their place, your child is encouraged to be a leader every day at Little GEMS International. Teachers build on children’s interests and initiative to further guide classroom leadership. Children are innately curious, and we provide learning challenges to ensure they stay that way. At Little GEMS International, we show our students how to embrace the unknown and be excited about what they can discover through authentic, real-life learning experiences that create meaningful connections. Our outdoor education program provides opportunities for children to explore nature. We introduce our children to technology and teach them its use as a powerful learning tool. Above all, we continually encourage children to question and think creatively. |
