GEMS Education has reaffirmed its commitment to making quality education accessible for all students throughout their schooling and beyond, by signing agreements with five more colleges and universities that will offer scholarships exclusively to GEMS students, with a total value of over AED 100 million.
The universities participating in the programme are; Middlesex University Dubai, an internationally renowned university offering top quality UK education in wide variety of academically rigorous undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; SP Jain School of Global Management, the world-class business school with campuses in Dubai, Mumbai, Singapore and Sydney; Skyline University College, one of the oldest tertiary education institutes in the UAE; and Vision Concepts Aviation Training Institute (VCATI), leaders in offering technical courses in the aviation industry; and the University of Modern Science (UMS), which is one the top universities in the UAE offering a range of bachelor degrees and courses. This is in addition to the already announced partnership with the Canadian University Dubai.
Further to today’s announcement, GEMS Education is set to announce a series of agreements with some of the world’s top universities, including Yale and Harvard in the US and the University of Cambridge in the UK within the coming weeks.
The UniConnect programme was launched in 2017. The programme is designed to provide scholarships and financial aid to GEMS students seeking admission at universities within the region and across the globe.
GEMS students in the UAE can apply for these scholarships through their school counsellors. GEMS announced the launch of the UniConnect programme last year.
Dino Varkey, CEO of GEMS Education, commented: “GEMS Education is proud to offer opportunities to make quality education more accessible to all our students. Fostering a number of strategic partnerships with these renowned universities will give GEMS students exclusive scholarships to a range of world-class universities, with the flexibility to study in Dubai campuses or abroad.”
Dr. Cedwyn Fernandes, Director of Middlesex University Dubai commented: “Middlesex University Dubai is pleased to enter into a partnership with GEMS Education - the leading and largest school education provider in the UAE. Mr. Nitin Anand, Head of Skyline University College commented: “Skyline is proud to have signed this agreement with one of the finest education providers at school level in the UAE today. Capt. Mohammad O. Al Suwaidi, Chairman, Vision Concept Aviation Training Institute (VCATI): “We are pleased to align with the GEMS group to offer scholarships and concessions to their students. This association is highlighting the similar principles of VCATI and GEMS schools as both are focused on superior training and the values we instill in our students.”
Prof. Ahmed Ghonim, President the University of Modern Science (UMS), said: “We at UMS are always very keen and focus on reaching the level of the academic quality that matches the quality and outstanding reputation of the higher education in United Arab Emirates. Developing and maintaining high quality academic programs require amongst other things, partnerships with sound and reputable education facilitators like GEMS Education. Therefore, we believe that this partnership with GEMS and UniConnect program will enable both parties to fulfil important part of their commitments towards students and the community at large.”
