GEMS Modern Academy on Antarctica

A Chilling Adventure

A team of 8 students from GEMS Modern Academy, Dubai became the first school team to join Sir Robert Swan as a part of the International Antarctic Expedition (IAE) 2014.

Twice the size of Australia, Antarctica is 5.4 million square miles of ice, and contains 90% of the world’s ice and 70% of the world’s fresh water. Antarctica is one of the only places on earth untouched by Human residents. The expedition gave students a better understanding of the environmental concerns that are facing the world and specifically Antarctica. The group from Modern that braved sub-zero temperatures and camped out on the Arctic ice, and they are now Youth Ambassadors, who will continue to do their part to save the continent.
