47 GEMS Students win Education Awards for Outstanding Academic Excellence

47 students and a GEMS Family honoured with prestigious awards

23 April 2015: Dubai, UAE47 GEMS students and a family from GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai, have been recognized in two prestigious academic award ceremonies.

38 GEMS students were honoured at the 17th Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance ceremony last night.  This is the largest number of GEMS students ever to receive the award, which recognizes academic achievement, talent, skills and leadership ability across a variety of disciplines.

The students recognized were from The Millennium School, Dubai; GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai; Our Own High School, Al Warqa’a; The Kindergarten Starters; Our Own English High School, Sharjah (Girls);  GEMS Millennium School;  Our Own English High School Sharjah (Boys); Our Own English High School, Al Ain and Our Own English High School, Abu Dhabi.

9 GEMS Students from GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai; The Millennium School, Dubai; Our Own High School, Al Warqa’a; Our Own English High School, Sharjah (Girls) and Our Own English High School, Sharjah (Boys) also received the Sharjah Educational Award for Outstanding Performance. Established under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed El Qasimy, the award recognizes students for academic excellence.

The Muzammil family from GEMS Our Own English High School, Dubai, has been recognized with the Sharjah Award for Excellence in Education – Distinguished Family. This GEMS family was also presented the Sheikh Hamdan Distinguished Family award last year after all three daughters of the family were recognized with the Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Distinguished Academic Performance.

Margaret Atack, Chief Education Officer, GEMS Education, congratulated the students, staff and parents for their remarkable efforts that led to the receipt of these prestigious awards. “Once again, GEMS students and parents have been recognised for their achievements and commitment, through the conferring of a Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award - an award that is valued for the prestige it gives to recipients, not just in the UAE but across the region.  This year, even greater numbers of GEMS students and parents have been honoured.
