Our Educators

A class apart

Do you remember your own school days? Chances are it isn't the science equipment or the playground that first comes to mind. It will be your favourite teacher. Perhaps because they were one of the first adults to really understand you, or because they made learning seem so easy. Whatever the reason we know great teachers inspire great students.

This is why at GEMS Education, we pay close attention to how we train and support both our new and experienced educators. We know just how rewarding a teaching career can be, when teachers have the right support and opportunities to develop.

Meet our Teachers

With over 9,000 teachers, leaders and education specialists from more than 115 countries, the GEMS Education team is a group of diverse, talented and passionate educators.

Regardless of where our teachers come from, they are all education professionals, who know better than most that you never stop learning. Every GEMS teacher has access to the GEMS Professional Development programme, and over 150 events and workshops each year - keeping their teaching practices cutting-edge, connected to their colleagues and highly effective in the classroom.

As you start to get to know our teachers, they'll want to get to know you and your family. We believe that close parent-teacher relationships are essential to helping students achieve their individual best. That's why GEMS Schools strongly provide parent resources and promote programmes which encourage parental involvement.

GEMS Principals

GEMS principals are responsible for ensuring that these world class expertise reach children in the classroom. Our principals shape the direction of GEMS schools, establishing their culture, their ethos and their direction.

Above all, GEMS principals are there to inspire and to motivate; giving teachers the support and confidence they need to be the very best educators and motivating students to achieve their full potential - with the full support of GEMS parents.

Our principals have an exceptional track record, focusing on outstanding results, inspirational teachers, successful students and happy parents.

GEMS Advisors and Ambassadors

GEMS Schools are shaped by our network of world-renowned educators, experts in education reform and globally-respected teaching specialists. From former headteachers of prestigious establishments (including Eton and Harrow), to former education ministers and OFSTED chief inspectors; our international network of multi-skilled advisors provide invaluable support and guidance in all areas of school life. They help us ensure world class standards of education for GEMS students and share with us the best and latest educational practices from around the world.

GEMS Education recently announced Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Buckingham, the new official adviser for its premium brand of British schools in the UAE, to enable students with an unprecedented opportunity to gain valuable insights from one of Britain’s leading contemporary historians, educationalists and political authors. Sir Anthony Seldon was previously the 13th Master of Wellington College in the UK for a decade. He will also be helping GEMS Education’s premium schools to develop an innovative ecosystem by adopting Artificial Intelligence (AI) in coordination with the University of Buckingham.

Moreover, His Excellency Ban Ki-moon, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations and co-chair of the Ban Ki-moon Center for Global Citizens, was recently appointed as the ambassador of the Model United Nations (MUN) at GEMS World Academy providing students the unprecedented opportunity to gain valuable insights from one of the world’s most admired leaders.

Inspecting quality

We may be passionate about constant improvement and innovation in teaching, but we're also serious about maintaining our high standards in every single GEMS school. The standard of our teaching is regularly assessed by a team of more than 150 senior academics who have been trained in important areas of school inspection including:

  • International accreditation
  • School inspection methodologies
  • School self evaluations

Our inspection team work closely with GEMS Principals and GEMS teachers to ensure they have the latest information on current teaching techniques, classroom practice and school administration. Inspectors then appraise and assess individual schools, helping them to become even better.

GEMS Quality Assurance Programme

The programme provides a more personalised education experience through increased and regular opportunities for parents to interact with teachers, allowing both parties to gain deeper insights into students’ development and progress. This enhances learning and education outcomes and leads to better informed parents, resulting in happier students and GEMS families and, in turn, positive GEMS advocates and ambassadors.
The programme also encourages teachers to play a more active role by becoming ambassadors of their school, closely aligned with GEMS Education’s wider goals. It acts as an effective framework through which to communicate all the good work that goes on both at school and group level, as well as the many added benefits and opportunities available to GEMS families, which collectively make up “The GEMS Difference”.
