Dubai, UAE: Having begun the new term with 100 per cent distance learning, GEMS Education schools across Sharjah were today delighted to welcome students back to campus on a staggered basis. All students in Sharjah schools have been learning from home for the past four weeks, as directed by the regulator SPEA, but they now have the option of attending classes in school and being reunited with friends and teachers.

Jonathan Dey, Headmaster/CEO of Wesgreen International School – Sharjah, said: “Staff are so excited to be welcoming our Wesgreen family back to school. Education is about hearts and minds. The remote learning programmes have stimulated their minds, but now it is time for the beating hearts of the school to return.”

Asma Gilani, Principal/CEO of GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah – Girls, said: "We are delighted to welcome our children back to school. The safety and well-being of all our stakeholders has always been a priority at Our Own English High School, Sharjah - Girls. We have ensured all necessary steps have been taken to provide the highest levels of sanitisation and cleanliness. Our children will have a unique ‘back to school’ experience with masks and social distancing in place – an experience they will be able to add to their treasure trove of memories of school.”

GEMS Education schools in Sharjah include: Wesgreen International School – Sharjah; GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah – Girls; GEMS Our Own English High School, Sharjah – Boys; GEMS Millennium School – Sharjah; GEMS Westminster School – Sharjah; and GEMS Cambridge International Private School – Sharjah.

All schools have put in place robust health and safety measures and precautions, in line with the highest international standards and guidance from the UAE authorities, to ensure students and staff return to a safe and secure environment.
